DREAMCATCHERS




Dreamcatchers are probably amongst the most beloved spiritual objects from the Ojibway culture. Dreams have always had great meaning to First Nations people and it is believed that the night air is filled with dreams both good and bad. These dreams are captured in the dreamcatcher web and only good dreams are allowed to slip through the center hole to a sleeping person. Bad dreams become entangled in the web where they perish at first light. These dreamcatchers are made of traditional materials - deer hide lashing, gut webbing, and natural feathers.

My dreamcatchers are made with authentic deer hide. The deers life was taken in a good way, and all parts of it were used in the way our Ancestors taught us.

They are adorned with glass beads and feathers.

NOTE:THESE ARE FUNDRAISERS FOR THE MISSING NATIVE WOMEN
Ribbons are beaded 7 across ( glass seed beads )representing the Seven Directions as taught to me by my respected Elders. They are 50 rows down. They are sewn on to grey deerhide to represent the gray zone the families are in not knowing what happened to their loved ones. They attach with a good quality sterling silver tack pin.
